Living Wills: Advance Decision or Directive

You can use an advance decision (also called an advance directive) to indicate your wish to refuse all or some forms of medical treatment if you lose mental capacity in the future. You cannot use an advanced decision to request medical treatment.

Limitations of Advance Decisions

You cannot use an advance decision to:

* ask for your life to be ended
* force doctors to act against their professional judgment
* nominate someone else to decide about treatment on your behalf

As with all advance statements, bear in mind that new drugs or treatements may be introduced in the future so you may wish to allow for new treatments.

Niche Packages

Advance Decisions need to be in writing to be valid and with our Will writing packages there is an option to  include 3 Will original copies: one for your doctor, hospital and next of kin.
