It may have started with your first job, buying your first flat and going on lots of holidays. Then, co-habiting and getting married followed by children, pets and moving to a bigger home. Maybe: divorce or re-marriage. At some point retiring (if not lucky enough already): downsizing; looking after the grandchildren.
Along the way you may have acquired additional wealth, property, company benefits or taken out investments or life insurance. Your children might have become successful in their own right and would not be expecting an inheritance.
